CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Recent Purdue women's golf graduate August Kim was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar on Wednesday, becoming the first four-time honoree in program history and adding another accomplishment to her distinguished Boilermaker career. The WGCA honored 952 players across NCAA Division I, II and III as students must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade-point average to qualify.
Kim joins Maria Hernandez as 1-of-2 players in Purdue women's golf history to earn All-America honors and All-American Scholar honors from the WGCA in the same season, after tying for fourth place at the 2017 NCAA Championships. Kim is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten award winner and earned Purdue's 2017 Big Ten Medal of Honor.
Since graduating with her degree in biochemistry, Kim has started her professional golf career and joined the Symetra Tour. She made her LPGA debut in the Meijer LPGA Classic, and has a top pro showing of 15th at the Four Winds Invitational.
