WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team is set for its 17th NCAA Championship appearance, opening play at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois on Friday. The Boilermakers earned their championship bid with a fifth-place performance at the NCAA Columbus Regional on May 10, and return to the national tournament in a team capacity for the second time in the last three seasons.
The Boilermakers' championship efforts are led by veteran senior August Kim, who makes her third straight trip to the NCAA finals. Kim advanced with the team in 2015, helping Purdue qualify for the fourth round and finish 12th overall, and then made it to NCAA's as an individual in 2016, where she played the full 72 on the strength of an opening-round 68 at the Eugene Country Club.
Junior Marta Martin is the only other Boilermaker with NCAA Championship experience, playing as a freshman alongside Kim at Concession Golf Club in Florida in 2015. Martin had the Boilermakers' top individual score at the 2015 national championships, finishing tied for 25th at 13-over par in her only collegiate 72-hole outing. Martin is coming off her best performance of the season, tying for third at the Columbus Regional at one-over par.
The Boilermakers will play the first 36 holes of NCAA's in familiar company, set to tee off with Ohio State and Michigan in the first two rounds. The trio is scheduled for the opening group off No. 1 at 7:30 a.m. CT on Friday, and will tee off at noon Saturday off the back-nine.
THE FIELD
The NCAA Championships features 24 teams, welcoming the top-six finishers from each of the four regional championships. Eight of the top-10 ranked teams in the nation made the championships, while just nine of the next 15 squads on the ranking list advanced as well. A record five Big Ten teams are making the trip to Rich Harvest Farms, including the 2017 conference champions from Michigan State, who were not slotted to receive a regional bid before earning the Big Ten's automatic spot.

THE COURSE: Rich Harvest Farms
Rich Harvest Farms plays host to the 2017 NCAA Championships, listed at par 72, 6,343 yards for the event. The home course of Northern Illinois University, it opened in 1999, and has played host to a variety of outstanding events. Before hosting this year's national field it welcomed the 2015 Western Amateur, the 2015 Palmer Cup, the 2014 NCAA Men's Midwest Regional and the 2009 Solheim Cup.
AT THIS EVENT
The Boilermakers have competed at a high level on the national scene over the last 20 years, winning the 2010 NCAA Championship and turning in four other top-five team performances. Purdue was the national runner-up in 2007 and 2011, and posted a third-place finish in 2013. In addition to its team success, Maria Hernandez captured individual medalist honors at the 2009 NCAA Championships, Maude-Aimee LeBlanc tied for third in 2010, and Paula Reto took third in 2013.

- SanJuan was the Boilermakers' top finisher in two straight tournaments, shooting four-over, 220, and tying for 16th at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic and posting a two-over, 218, to tie for 18th at The Dickson in Houston
- Farah is the first Purdue freshman to earn First Team All-Big Ten honors since Laura Gonzalez Escallon in 2013, and the sixth freshman in program history to secure the award
