WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue (17-35, 6-14 B1G) welcomes Nebraska (24-25, 13-7 B1G) to Bittinger Stadium this weekend as the Boilermakers conclude the 2017 regular season. In her first season at the helm of the Purdue softball program, head coach Boo De Oliveira has the Boilermakers in position to solidify a spot in the B1G Tournament.
The Boilermakers are coming off a tough weekend against potential national title contender #4 Minnesota and take on a hot Huskers team. Nebraska is riding a five-game winning streak that features a win against Illinois, Creighton and a sweep of Northwestern including a walk-off victory its most recent time out against the Wildcats.
This weekend is full of promotions at Bittinger Stadium as festivities kick off with Alumni Day on Saturday. Prior to Sunday's game the team will honor longtime Purdue professor and supporter of Purdue athletics, Marv Bittinger. The Boilermakers will conclude the regular season Monday by honoring Kristen Hoppman, Katie Johnson and Lexi Valone on Senior Day.
Purdue's three seniors all enter the weekend fighting to extend their final collegiate season as the Boilermakers begin the series against Nebraska currently as the last team qualifying for the Big Ten Tournament with Rutgers and Maryland not far behind. The Boilermakers have made the conference tournament in each of the last four seasons.
