WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ââ'¬" For the fourth straight year, the Purdue men's golf team was selected to compete in NCAA Regional play announced on the Golf Channel today.

Already knowing their destination, No. 38-ranked Purdue was selected as the No. 7 seed and will serve as the host school in the NCAA Golf West Lafayette Regional at the Kampen Course.

"We are excited about having the opportunity to play at home in front of our fans. Superintendent Jim Scott has done a fantastic job of getting the course ready and it will be nice to be able to prepare on the course leading up to Regionals," head coach Rob Bradley said. "We need to stay focused on the things we can control, such as how we prepare and our mindset entering the event. I like the way our guys are playing and look forward to the competition."

The teams will play 54 holes and action will begin on Monday, May 15, and conclude May 17, at the Kampen Course. The 13 squads selected will be vying for five team spots into the NCAA Championships to be contested May 26 to 31, at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

In seed order, Purdue (#38) will be joined at the Kampen Course by Florida (#5), Illinois (#8), UNLV (#17), Auburn (#20), South Carolina (#28), Colorado (#32), New Mexico (#44), Augusta (#52), Saint Mary's (#57), Campbell (#68), Richmond (#91) and Cleveland State (#147).

Purdue's current stretch of four straight selections are tied for the second-longest streak in school history, behind the 19 straight appearances from 1949-67.

Purdue has advanced to NCAA competition in every year under head coach Rob Bradley and is 1-of-3 Big Ten schools (Purdue, Illinois, Iowa) to be selected to four straight NCAA regionals.

The Boilermakers have had an up-and-down season to date against a strong schedule, but are coming off their highest Big Ten Championships finish since 2007, placing tied for fourth last weekend at the Baltimore Country Club. Fernando Barco and Austin Eoff were named second-team All-Big Ten and sophomore Timmy Hildebrand has had a strong season at the No. 3 position.

Purdue's team scoring average of 288.79 (18 holes) is the second best in school history, behind just the 288.19 average during the 2001-02 season.

This will mark Purdue's 13th NCAA Regional appearance (1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017) and the Boilermakers have advanced to 28 NCAA Championships. Among Big Ten schools, only Ohio State (46) has reached more NCAA Championships than Purdue. All told, Purdue has advanced to NCAA play 35 times (regional play started in 1999).

Purdue is 1-of-8 Big Ten teams to be selected and its No. 7 seed is the third highest in the league behind Illinois (No. 2; West Lafayette) and Northwestern (No. 5; Baton Rouge, La.).
