ATHENS, Ga. - The Purdue women's golf team topped a pair of opponents in match play Saturday at the 45th-annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, hosted by Georgia at UGA Golf Course. The Boilermakers downed Troy in the opening round, 3-2, and came back with a 3-1 victory over Old Dominion in the second round of the Black bracket.

The Boilermakers rallied from an early deficit to take down Troy, behind strong play down the stretch from senior August Kim, sophomore Covadonga SanJuan and junior Marta Martin. Purdue freshman Micaela Farah ran into a scorching-hot opponent as Troy's Bianca Lohbauer made four birdies in her first seven holes and played 12 holes without a bogey to earn a 7&5 win, while junior Linn Andersson recovered from a four-shot deficit to even the match with three holes left, but came up short in a 1-down loss to Becca Horner. Martin put the first point on the board for the Boilermakers, rallying from 2-down to birdie two of her last six holes and secure a 4&2 win over Bria Jansen. SanJuan followed suit with a 3&2 win over Gabi Oubre, and Kim birdied four of her last six holes to edge Fatima Cano, 1-up, and seal the win.

Purdue led most of the way against Old Dominion, but needed some solid play down the stretch to secure the victory. Martin dominated Old Dominion's Rachel Walker, playing even-par golf over 14 holes to win 6&4, while Kim needed to birdie two of the last three holes to hold off Sana Tufail for a 1-up victory. SanJuan was down one with two holes to play, erasing the deficit with a par on No. 17 and matching birdies on 18 to half a point with Charlotte De Corte, and Farah led most of the way against Maggie Simmermacher, but dropped a hole on No. 17 to finish all square.

Kim extended her match-play unbeaten streak to eight straight with her two wins Saturday, while Martin matched her with a pair of victories on the day. The Boilermakers will face No. 11 South Carolina tomorrow for the Black bracket title, opening the match at 8:40 a.m. ET.
