WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The video feature spotlighting Purdue swimming alumna Emily Fogle produced by the CBS Sports Network for the 2016 Collegiate Women Sports Awards program has been selected as a winner of a Gracie Award.

All The Way Back: The Story of Emily Fogle was recognized by the Alliance for Women in Media last month. Fogle was named the 2016 Honda Inspiration Award winner last spring and her inspiring story was highlighted during the live CBS Sports Network telecast of the 2016 Honda Cup presentation on the Collegiate Women Sports Awards program.

The Gracie Awards recognize exemplary programming created by women, for women and about women in all facets of media and entertainment. They also acknowledge the individuals who have made inspirational contributions to the industry.

Named after the late Gracie Allen -- an actress, comedian and vaudevillian performer for more than 30 years -- the Gracie Awards acknowledge outstanding team leadership and individual achievement. The Gracies focus on women who are making positive change and who further the discussion of what a fulfilling career in media looks like.

Fogle was honored with the prestigious Honda Inspiration Award, which is given each year to a female student-athlete who has overcome astonishing injury, illness and/or hardship, and still achieved great success in her sport. As Purdue's 2016 Female Athlete of the Year, Fogle embodied everything the Honda Inspiration Award stands for. She overcame multiple hip surgeries and an extended bout with anorexia that led to her missing most of two full seasons of college competition. She returned to the pool in the summer of 2014 and finished her career as a four-time NCAA Championships qualifier and five-time All-American. She raced at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials last summer to close out her swimming career.

Fogle remains Purdue's program record holder in both breaststroke events and the 200 individual medley. She begins a master's program in New York City in August.

Honorees in the national TV, national radio, non-commercial syndicated radio and national interactive media will be recognized at the Gracies Gala, set for June 6 in Beverly Hills, California.
