WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team returns to tournament play this week, heading to Augusta University for the 3M Augusta Invitational on Friday. The Boilermakers will play in the Jaguars' home event for the fifth time in program history, winning the tournament in 2011 and 2013.
Senior August Kim got her spring season going last weekend, posting a 3-0 mark in match play at the Gifford Great 8 Match Play, hosted by UCLA at Brentwood Country Club. Kim played nearly flawless over the three rounds in Los Angeles, making just three bogeys over 54 holes, and is now 8-2-1 in match play in her Purdue career.
The Boilermaker senior owns three top-five finishes in her final collegiate campaign, but is still seeking her first medalist honor of the season. She was runner-up at the Landfall Tradition in the fall at six-under par, and shot four-under at the Windy City Collegiate.
Kim and the Boilermakers tee off Friday morning at Forest Hills Golf Club and will be paired with the host Jaguars, who are led by former Boilermaker assistant coach Caroline Hegg.
THE FIELD
The 12th-annual 3M Augusta Invitational features a 14-team field, headlined by the Boilermakers and No. 37 Tennessee. The host Jaguars are the event's defending champions, topping last year's 16-team field at three-under par and besting the runner-up by 10 strokes.
