WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After a two-week break from play, the Purdue men's tennis team returns to action Saturday against DePaul at 1 p.m. ET and IUPUI at 5 p.m. The doubleheader is the last of three multiple-match contests for the Boilermakers as the team started their home schedule with two tripleheaders.
Purdue went 6-0 in those matches and hopes to remain undefeated inside the Schwartz Tennis Center this weekend, while bolstering its 6-5 overall record. The Boilermakers have had trouble on the road this season, facing three top-15 opponents on their respective home courts already.
The local squad should have the advantage against the two programs Saturday, though. Purdue enters with both the No. 7 doubles team in the country, featuring Gergely Madarasz and Ricky Medinilla, and the No. 89 singles player in Madarasz. The Boilermakers also lead each series -- DePaul 11-4 and IUPUI 5-0.
Additionally, in the five matches against IUPUI, Purdue has only dropped a total of three team points while sweeping the Jaguars twice. Lucas Omer Dages also went 2-0 against IUPUI in both singles and doubles during the Old Gold & Black Classic last fall. Should the senior be featured in Saturday's lineups, he can look to extend his current eight-match win-streak in singles and six-match run in doubles.
