Watch MLB Network / D1Baseball.com Feature on Poisall
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Purdue baseball's Logan Poisall is scheduled to be interviewed live on MLB Network's Hot Stove program Friday morning, discussing the dramatic events related to his team debut last weekend in the season-opening series at Texas State.
Poisall will be interviewed at 9:45 a.m. ET live from the team hotel in Little Rock. Longtime big leaguer Ron Darling and versatile play-by-play announcer Matt Vasgersian are hosting Friday's edition of Hot Stove on the MLB Network. Pay TV subscribers can stream the MLB Network live through MLBNetwork.com or the MLB At-Bat app.
"Those guys are my brothers," Poisall said. "They were there for me from the start. Every guy gave me a hug. They're here for me through thick and thin. I only met them five or six months ago. I couldn't thank those guys enough for how they've handled the situation."
Poisall flew home to Fresno, California, after the series concluded Sunday. Services for his father were held this week and he was scheduled to fly to Little Rock to rejoin the team again in time for Thursday night's practice at Gary Hogan Field in advance of this weekend's series against the Little Rock Trojans.
MLB Network is increasing its coverage of college baseball this season and plans to highlight the wild plays and heartwarming stories like Poisall's throughout the spring on its numerous baseball-related studio shows.
Jack Poisall suffered multiple strokes in the fall of 2012, which led to liver and kidney failure. Logan flew home at Thanksgiving of this school year prepared for the worse, but Jack's condition stabilized and he was able to make it through the holiday season. When Jack's condition again took a turn for the worse this month, he encouraged Logan to remain with the team because Logan had worked diligently to build a foundation at Purdue since arriving on campus for the first time in August.
"I asked him, `Have you spoken with your dad?'" Wasikowski said. "(Logan) said, `My dad told me, "stay here, it doesn't matter if I pass. This whole thing has been for you to live out your dreams playing college baseball."' Basically he told him to pull up your britches, go to work, and come back after you play."
Purdue Athletics extends its condolences to the Poisall Family.
