WACO, Texas - The Purdue men's tennis team was defeated by No. 13 Baylor 4-0 on Friday night - the team's fourth straight loss on the road this season. That tally also marks the first time the Boilermakers were shutout since beginning team play in January.

After losing the doubles point to the Bears at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center, Purdue looked to be making a comeback in singles. The Boilermakers picked up the first set in four of the six matches on, but neither Athell Bennett, Stephan Koenigsfest, Gergely Madarasz nor Benjamin Ugarte were able to capitalize on their early momentum.

Teammate Dominik Sochurek dropped his match just prior in straight sets, losing 6-1, 6-3 to Will Little on court five. No. 93 Madarasz was then bested by No. 54 Juan Benitez 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 on court one.

Down three points to zero, Purdue looked to Koenigsfest to move the match forward, but Baylor's Jimmy Bendeck outplayed the freshman 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 on court four. Koenigsfest started out his career at Purdue with two road wins over No. 5 Georgia and Alabama, but is now even away from home with Friday's loss and a drop at Louisville one week ago.

He and the rest of the men's tennis team will have another opportunity Sunday to pick up Purdue's first road win; the Boilermakers' match against the Longhorns begins at 2 p.m. ET in Austin, Texas.
