The Boilermakers opened the spring schedule with their first, sweeping Ball State and Chicago State twice.

Purdue saw similar results against both Drake and Indiana Tech back inside the Schwartz Tennis Center.

The Boilermakers made quick work of the Bulldogs in doubles during the first match. Gergely Madarasz and Ricky Medinilla defeated Vinny Gillespie and Calum MacGeoch 6-2 on court one; Dominik Sochurek and Benjamin Ugarte followed right behind with a 6-4 win over Ben Stride and Ben Wood on court two.

Heading 1-0 into singles, Madarasz and Athell Bennett extended the Boilermakers' lead, besting MacGeoch 6-4, 6-1 and Wood 6-2, 7-5 respectively.

At 3-0, only one of Purdue's remaining four players picked up the first set; however, Medinilla, Sochurek and Ugarte all fought back to claim the second.

Meanwhile, Stephan Koenigsfest faced a tiebreak in his second set after winning the first 6-1. The freshman quickly earned the first three points before giving up the fourth, but controlled the rest of the breaker against Barnaby Thorold. His 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) win clinched the match for Boilermakers at 4-0, and all other play was abandoned.

Purdue then played in back-to-back matches against Indiana Tech at 4 and 6:30 p.m. ET. The Warriors were overpowered by the depth of the Boilermakers' lineup, though, as Purdue finished 5-0 in doubles and 9-0 in singles.

Matt Bouggy, Lucas Omer Dages and Renan Hanayama all saw action against the team from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Hanayama won both of his matches, defeating Tiago Neves 6-4, 6-1 and then German Alejandro Ortiz 6-1, 6-0. Dages also won his first against Rui Lima 6-1, 6-2 and his second 6-3, 6-1 over Kino de Leon. Bouggy won his first singles match of the spring against de Leon, besting the Warrior in a three-setter 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7).

Purdue travels to the state of Texas next for two matches against top-15 programs. The Boilermakers compete first against the No. 14 Baylor Bears on Feb. 10 and the No. 10 Texas Longhorns on Feb. 12.
