WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The track & field teams wrap up their indoor home schedule Saturday at Lambert Fieldhouse with the Fred Wilt Open. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. ET and wrap up at 4 p.m. Track events will begin at 12:20.
Saturday's action will begin with the men's weight throw and women's high jump. Caleb Fricke and Luke Lewis will compete in the weight throw, while Janae' Moffitt and Jaden Mattox are in the high jump. The day's action will conclude with the 4x400-meter relays.
Sarah Loesch looks to continue her impressive sophomore season in the weight throw. She has improved nearly every week and has a season-best of 20.03 meters (65-8.75), which ranks 17th in the country this season and fourth in school history. Alisha Bahler has been good in the women's weight throw, where she is up to 15.22m (49-11.25), which is seventh in school history and among the top 50 in the country this year. Savannah Carson is scheduled to return to competition after missing the last two meets. She is slated to compete in the long jump, where she is 18th in the country.
Three of the eight fastest women's 60-meter dashers in school history will be on the track in the event. Devynne Charlton is the school record holder and will run alongside Carmiesha Cox and Sekayi Bracey. Cox is tied for third in program history, while Bracey is eighth. Charlton is also the school record holder in the 200m dash and will compete in that event. She will run the one-lap race with Savannah Roberson, who is fourth in school history, and Symone Black, who is fifth.
The women's 400m dash will feature two of the top 10 runners in program history. Black, who has the second-best time in the school's history, will compete against freshman Chloe Abbott, who added her name to the list last week with the No. 9 time. The women's 60-meter hurdles also features two of the program's best 10 runners all-time. Shantyra Delaney and Roberson are ranked sixth and eighth, respectively, on the Purdue lists.
In the men's 60m dash, three of the school's 10 fastest all-time runners are scheduled to compete. Malcolm Dotson, who ranks fourth at Purdue, will run alongside Kyle Webb and Keanu Pennerman. Webb and Pennerman are eighth and 10th, respectively. Webb and Dotson are also in the 200m dash, where Webb ranks fourth in school history, while Dotson is sixth.
Obokhare Ikpefan and Shanwdail McLaren are in the men's 400m dash. Ikpefan has the eighth fastest time in school history, while McLaren is just off the top 10 list.
