Boilermaker Aquatic Center / West Lafayette, Indiana
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue swimming & diving teams continue their January homestands with their annual rivalry dual, welcoming Indiana to the Boilermaker Aquatic Center for Saturday's co-ed meet.
The meet begins at 11 a.m. ET and the first set of diving events are set to get underway at 11:25 a.m. Eleven student-athletes that represented their countries at the 2016 Olympic Games are expected to compete.
Additionally, four-time Olympic medalist and Purdue alumnus David Boudia will be signing autographs from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on the mezzanine level of the Aquatic Center. The first 250 fans in attendance receive a free Purdue "I Am an American" pennant.
As has been customary at the Indiana-Purdue duals the last few years, platform diving will be contested as a scoring event. Both genders will also compete from 3-meter, but it will be an exhibition event. Steele Johnson is slated to compete from the platforms for the first time since the Olympic Games. The 2015 NCAA champion on platform has been focusing strictly on the springboard events so far this season. The Hoosiers' Jessica Parratto (USA) and James Connor (Australia) were also Olympians on 10-meter this summer. Brandon Loschiavo, Emily Meaney and Max Showalter are also scheduled to compete from the platforms for the Boilermakers.

Kaersten Meitz swept the distance freestyle in Bloomington last season, earning Big Ten Swimmer of the Week honors in the process. She was also victorious in the 1,000 free in IU's last visit to the Boilermaker Aquatic Center two years ago. Meanwhile, Showalter's victory on the platforms in Bloomington last year earned him Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors.
Last month in Columbus, IU's Michael Hixon, a 3-meter Olympian this summer, and Johnson finished 1-2 on 1-meter at the USA Diving Winter Nationals to clinch Team USA's bids in the event at the FINA World Championships this summer in Budapest, Hungary. Both divers are slated to compete on 1-meter again Saturday. The 11:25 a.m. and 12:25 p.m. start times for the diving events were selected in part so they'll finish in the spotlight as longer 25-minute breaks are utilized in the competition pool between the 50 and 100 freestyle as well as between the 100 butterfly and 200/400 individual medley. Exhibition heats of selected events will again be contested during those breaks.
Another memorable 1-2 finish between the two rivals occurred at the 2016 Big Ten Championships held at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Marat Amaltdinov out touched IU's Cody Taylor, who is no longer on the active roster, by three hundredths of a second to win the conference title in the 200 breaststroke. Amaltdinov was also victorious in the 200 breast at the regular-season dual in Bloomington.
Austin Flager was victorious in the 50 free and anchored the Boilermakers' 200 medley relay team to victory at the last Indiana-Purdue dual meet in West Lafayette. "It's our big rivalry meet; it's fun to get up and go for it," Flager said. "It's our last true dual meet. We have the Triple Duals after this, but [the IU dual] is the biggest meet of the year for us besides Big Tens and NCAAs."
Minnesota and Northwestern visit the Boilermaker Aquatic Center next weekend for the two-day Big Ten Triple Duals. Purdue will be hosting the meet for the first time since 2014.
