The Purdue women had three sophomores and a freshman finish in the top five.

Grace Lachmund made it six straight Boilermakers to cross the finish line when she posted a time of 18:50.7. The Boilermaker depth was on full display as the women had 14 of the top 17 finishers on the day.

Jaret Carpenter was the top finisher on the men's side, making it a sweep for the freshmen from Minnesota. Carpenter, from Wayzata, was the runner-up in the 6,000-meter race and finished with a time of 18:40.3. Jeremy Craven was the second Boilermaker to cross the line. He finished with a time of 18:51.4. Matthew Grider took fourth overall and was the third Boilermaker to break 19 minutes. Grider finished with a time of 18:57.9. Like the women, the men had six straight Boilermakers to come across the finish line. Alex Milner took seventh with a time of 19:17.7.

Freshmen Greg Tippmann, Danny Dalton and Theo Burgwald were all in the top 12 overall with times under 19:25. The Purdue men had 10 of the top 12 finishers and 11 of the top 14. Of the five scoring Boilermakers, three were sophomores, one was a freshman and one junior.

The Boilermakers have a couple weeks to prepare for their next meet, the Indiana Intercollegiates. The teams travel to Bloomington, Indiana, for the state-wide meet Friday, Sept. 16.
