WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Andrea Petrina set up goals by Mikayla Lasky and Erika Arkans in the first half and Purdue women's soccer posted another clean sheet defensively in a 2-0 preseason exhibition victory vs. Miami (Ohio) on Sunday afternoon.
Lasky scored in the seventh minute and Arkans extended the Boilermakers' lead with a goal in the 33rd minute. Goalkeeper Jordan Ginther and the Purdue defense posted their second shutout of the preseason and a fourth straight in fall exhibition action dating back to last year.
After scoring twice Wednesday at Loyola, Petrina assisted on both goals Sunday. Petrina's free kick from the west sideline pinballed around the 18-yard box and eventually found Lasky. With the Miami goalkeeper out of position, Lasky finished off the sequence with a sliding tap-in. About 26 minutes later, Petrina's slot pass set Arkans free in the heart of the 18-yard box where she finished the sequence with a shot inside the right post.
Hannah Mussallem, who started as an outside back again, nearly accounted for a third first-half goal but hit the right post with a shot from the right flank in the 37th minute. Mussallem made a long run up the west side of the field, opting to shoot from about 25 yards out.

Miami goalkeeper Patricia Koutoulas made two quality saves in the second half to keep it a 2-0 game. In the 49th minute, she was able to snare a shot by Gianna Milaro and keep possession of the ball. Ten minutes later, Koutoulas had to leap to her right to deflect a rising blast by Hannah Leinert over the crossbar.
The RedHawks' Tori Christiansen grazed the left post in the 69th minute with a shot from a tight angle on the right flank that floated over the head of Ginther. About eight minutes later, the Purdue defense was able to block a shot by Courtney Evans amidst an extended scramble before it reached Ginther along the goal line.
Dannah Williams and Vanessa Korolas went the distance at center back for the Boilermakers. Freshman Ena Sabanagic was the first Purdue player off the bench and logged 42 minutes, most among the reserves. Fellow freshmen Breana Robbins and Maddy Duncan were in the starting lineup again. Brady Riley, Grace Dunker and Iowa transfer Kyrie Seying also made their Folk Field debuts.
The Boilermakers improved to 11-3 in exhibition action (fall and spring) under second-year head coach Drew Roff. They'll kick off their new season Friday with a 7 p.m. home game against Marshall. Montana and Oakland open the season-opening doubleheader at 4 p.m.
