BARCELONA, Spain -- The Purdue men's basketball team spent Sunday morning touring the Olympic city of Barcelona, before using the afternoon to relax for that evening's game.
The Boilermakers visited Camp Nou Montjuic, a mountain that overlooks the city and seaport of 1.6 million inhabitants. It also visited the Estadio Olympico, the host stadium for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Unlike most past Olympic venues, almost all of the 1992 venues are still in use today.
The seaport of Barcelona houses two of the six-largest cruise ships in the world, including the world's longest, the Harmony of the Seas, which measures almost 1,200 feet long, almost the length of four football fields.
Purdue then went on a bus tour of Barcelona, driving along the beaches and modern downtown sections of Barcelona, which houses some of the most-exclusive stores in the world.
Purdue will finish Purdue its Spanish trip in Barcelona, seeing the Sagrada de Familia Monday morning before receiving a free day in the city on Tuesday. The Boilermakers will play the Barcelona Region All-Stars on Sunday night and the European Basketball Academy on Monday night before returning home Wednesday.
