WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue men's golfers Fernando Barco and Austin Eoff look to put a cap on their strong summers as they will compete in the 116th United States Amateur Championship held just outside Detroit beginning Monday.

The event will be held at the Oakland Hill Country Club North and South Courses in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. A record-tying 312 competitors will begin a grueling week in search of becoming America's amateur champion.

Oakland Hills hosted the 2004 Ryder Cup and the 2008 PGA Championship. Dubbed "the Monster", the south course is the more recognized of the two courses and will host the 36-hole final next Sunday.

Competitors will play 18 holes on both Monday and Tuesday with the top 64 finishers advancing to match play beginning on Wednesday.

Wednesday's first round consists of 32 matches. Thursday's action will be the second (16 matches) and third rounds (8 matches) of match play. Friday's play will consist of the quarterfinals, the semifinals will be hosted on Saturday and the 36-hole championship match will be on Sunday. Saturday and Sunday's action will be televised nationally by Fox Sports, while Fox Sports 1 will broadcast match-play action from Wednesday to Friday.

Barco's tee times are at 1:10 p.m. ET off No. 1 on the south course on Monday and at 7:55 a.m. ET off No. 10 north course Tuesday.

On Monday, Eoff will tee off No. 1 on the north course at 2:10 p.m., and at 8:55 a.m. off No. 10 on the south course on Tuesday.

Barco advanced to the U.S. Amateur after winning sectional qualifying at the Kampen Course about two weeks ago. The rising senior from Lima, Peru, won the qualifier by one shot after shooting 8-under par 136 (68-68).

Eoff received a spot after being the first alternate in qualifying in Arkansas. Eoff tied for first in his qualifier but lost on the first hole of a playoff. He, however, earned a spot after a previous qualifier withdrew.

This will be the final competition this summer for the Boilermakers as classes begin in West Lafayette next Monday, Aug. 22.
