CHICAGO -- Andrea Petrina scored twice and Hannah Leinert also contributed to a pair of goals, providing the offense in Purdue women's soccer's 3-0 exhibition win at Loyola on Wednesday evening.

Petrina scored in the eighth and 68th minutes. Leinert assisted on Petrina's first goal and later gave the Boilermakers a 2-0 lead with a score in the 20th minute.

Petrina and Leinert were two of the seven upperclassmen in the starting lineup for Purdue. Senior Jordan Ginther got the call in goal and made three saves in 61 minutes of action before giving way to Erika Yohn, who finished off the shutout win. The Boilermakers went with a backline of Mikayla Lasky and Hannah Williams at center back, Vanessa Korolas and Gabby LaMere at outside back.

Freshmen Maddy Duncan and Brady Riley were both in the starting lineup Wednesday. Riley was credited with a game-high five shots. Fellow freshman Breana Robbins assisted on Petrina's second-half goal while playing 37 minutes off the bench. Only Ena Sabanagic, another freshman, logged more minutes (39) as a reserve.

Leinert setup Petrina's early goal with a slot pass after dribbling into the 18-yard box. Petrina capitalized on the scoring opportunity with a strong finish. In the second half, a takeaway by Robbins led to another chance for Petrina. The freshman dribbled to the edge of the 18-yard box where she connected a pass to Petrina, who buried the second scoring opportunity.

Leinert's unassisted goal in the 20th minute was scored with a shot over the top of the Loyola goalkeeper and inside the far post.

Twenty-four of the 31 players on Purdue's roster saw action Wednesday. Dagny Olson and Hannah Mussallem were in the starting lineup as well. Freshmen Ryan Dudycha, Grace Dunker and Paige Bourne as well as Iowa transfer Kyrie Seying also saw their first game action as Boilermakers.

Purdue surrendered just one shot on goal over the final 86 minutes of the game. The Boilermakers have won in shutout fashion in each of their three preseason exhibition games over the last two years and improved to 10-3 overall in exhibition action (spring and fall) under head coach Drew Roff.

Purdue hosts Miami (Ohio) in another exhibition game Sunday at 2 p.m. The regular season kicks off with an Aug. 19 doubleheader at Folk Field, the new name of the Boilermaker Soccer Complex. Before Purdue hosts Marshall in its season opener, Oakland and Montana square off in a neutral-site contest.

Boilermakers win! Great start to the season with a 3-0 exhibition victory over Loyola-Chicago. Headed home to the Boilermaker Soccer Complex for our second exhibition against Miami (OH) on Sunday . #BoilerUp #preseason2016 #SoccerSquad
