WBB Announces 2016-17 B1G Opponents

June 21, 2016

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Big Ten Conference announced the home and away opponents for the 2016-17 women’s basketball season, unveiling the rest of roster of the Boilermakers’ schedule. The Big Ten will play a 16-game conference slate this year, shaving two games off of the 18-game schedule of the past few seasons.

With the 16-game schedule, the Boilermakers will only play three teams twice during the conference season. Purdue drew home and away contests with Michigan State, Northwestern and Penn State for 2016-17, adding those three teams to the home schedule along with Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska and Ohio State. The Boilermakers’ road schedule includes Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Rutgers and Wisconsin alongside the Spartans, Wildcats and Lady Lions.

The dates and times for the conference schedule have yet to be announced and are expected to come this fall, along with the 2016-17 Big Ten Network television schedule for the conference season. The Boilermakers open the season Nov. 11 at the University of Maine, and Purdue plays its home opener Nov. 17 vs. USC Upstate.
