2015-16 Final Statistics
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Austin Eoff, Brian Carlson and Fernando Barco were all named to the PING All-Region Team the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced.
It marks the second time in the last three years that three Boilermakers were named to the PING All-Region Team. In three years under head coach Rob Bradley, the program has had seven all-region honorees.
Eoff was named to the squad for the third time, while Barco and Carlson each earn their first All-Region accolade.
Eoff, a junior from Benton, Arkansas, led Purdue in stroke average for the second straight year at 72.76 / 18 holes, ranking tied for seventh on the single-season stroke average list. He finished the season with seven top-10 finishes, the second most by a Purdue player in school history. Eoff also ranks first in career stroke average (72.81) and has 14 career top-10 showings to rank fourth on the list.
Earlier this month, he became just the fifth Boilermaker in school history to be named All-Big Ten three times when he was tabbed to the first team.
Carlson, a sophomore from Madison, Connecticut, also earned All-Big Ten honors (second team) after ranking second on the squad in stroke average at 72.97, good for 11th on the single-season list. Carlson led the team with four top-five finishes and his six top-10 showings are tied for the fourth most in a season in school history. Carlson's next event will be U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying in early June to try and earn a spot in the U.S. Open.
Barco earns his first All-Region honor after ranking third on the team in stroke average (73.13). Barco, who started playing at age 13, was second on the team in top-20 finishes with eight and his spring average of 72.87 was the best average on the squad. Barco was also second on the team in rounds of even-par or better with 16.
The Boilermakers concluded their season Sunday at the NCAA Championships after reaching college golf's premier event for the second time in three years. Purdue and Illinois are the only Big Ten teams to reach the NCAA National Championships since 2013. Bradley will return four starters (Eoff, Barco, Carlson, Jarle Volden) from the squad, in addition to welcoming a highly-regarded recruiting class.
