EUGENE, Ore. - Purdue junior August Kim got things off to a roaring start at the 2016 NCAA Women's Golf Championships on Friday, firing a four-under, 68, and sits tied for the individual lead at Eugene Country Club. She matched her season-high with five birdies on the round, and had just one bogey over Friday's round.

Kim opened play on the back-nine Friday morning and got off to a solid start by making par on No. 10 and No. 11. She dropped in her first birdie of the day on No. 12, making a three on the par-four 12th hole, and backed it up with three more pars to sit one-under after six holes. Things heated up on 16 and 17, sinking a two on the 152-yard, par three, 16th, and following with another birdie on the 471-yard, par five, 17th.

The swing to the front-nine kept the hot streak going as she made birdie on No. 1 and No. 3, pushing her score all the way to five-under after 12 holes. Her only slip-up of the day came on the par five, fourth hole, making a six and dropping her score back to four-under. She parred in the rest of the way, matching the second-best round of her career and 12th score of par or better this season.

Kim shares the individual lead with Arizona's Haley Moore, who matched Kim's round with five birdies and a bogey on the day. Eight golfers sit tied for third at three-under, 69, while 10 others are two shots back at two-under par, 70.

Kim resumes play tomorrow at 3:55 p.m. ET, starting play on the front-nine.
