
MADISON, Wis. ââ'¬" The Boilermakers made solid contact throughout the game, but finally broke through for their first hit in the seventh inning, sparking a three-run rally to post the 3-2 come-from-behind victory.
Senior Mary Gooding, freshman Lauren Stewart and senior Katie Harrison accounted for the Boilermakers' hits and runs.
Senior Lilly Fecho (16-8) struck out six in the complete-game victory for Purdue. Taylor-Paige Stewart (10-9) was saddled with the loss for Wisconsin.
Wisconsin drew a two-out walk in the first inning, but a Fecho recorded her second strikeout of the inning to leave the runner stranded.
Freshman Mallory Baker earned a four-pitch free pass to start the Boilermaker second inning, but was left aboard by two pop ups and a fly out.
Wisconsin tallied the game's first hit in the fourth as Chloe Miller lifted the first pitch for a home run to right field. The Badgers added a single, but the Boilermakers turned a 6-4-3 double play to erase the hit.
A throwing error gave the Badgers a runner to start the fifth. A sacrifice bunt and ground out set up an RBI single, which made it 2-0 Wisconsin.
Gooding broke up Stewart's no-hit bid with a leadoff triple to left in the seventh. A two-out single by freshman Lauren Stewart put the Boilermakers on the board. Stewart then stole second before coming home on a two-run shot by Harrison, which put Purdue on top 3-2.
The Boilermaker defense took Wisconsin down in order in the bottom of the inning to clinch the comeback victory. Fecho issued a looking strikeout and forced a pop up and ground out to cap the win.
Purdue (23-17, 5-6 B1G) returns to action at 6 p.m. ET Wednesday when the team heads to Chicago to face DePaul.
