BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Chukwuebuka Enekwechi broke the school record in the shot put and helped the men's team to its second highest finish in program history Saturday at the NCAA Championships. Devynne Charlton broke 8.00 seconds in the women's 60-meter hurdles for just the second time and finished third in the event to score six points for the women. Five men earned a total of six first team All-America honors, while Charlton picked up another for the women. The seven first team All-America honors is the most in school history for a single indoor NCAA Championships.
Enekwechi needed just one attempt in the shot put to break the school record, which had stood for 11 years. The senior launched a throw of 19.95 meters (65-5.50), which put him in second place behind eventual champion Ryan Crouser of Texas. Though Enekwechi did not improve his mark, he recorded a mark of 19.52m (64-0.25) on his second attempt, which is among his best as a Boilermaker. Enewekchi edged Nedzad Mulabegovic's program record of 19.94m (65-5.00) to end his indoor career with the school record in both throwing events.
Enekwechi scored the fourth-most individual points of any man at this year's championships with 13, including the most by a thrower. He was one of just nine individuals to score in multiple individual events and one of just three to finish fourth or better in two events.

Charlton was in the 60m hurdles final after qualifying through the prelims Friday. The junior ran a time of 7.99 seconds, the second-fastest of her career and just 0.02 of a second off her school record. That time was good for third place and six points for the women's team.
The men's 4x400m relay team was the final event the Boilermakers were able to put points on the board. Nicholas Parks had a great opening leg, running his 400m leg with a split of 46.71 seconds. Kyle Webb was on the track next and kept the Boilermakers among the top three teams in the heat with a split of 46.84 seconds. Kinard Rolle was next and split 47.07 seconds, before handing to Shawndail McLaren. The freshman brought home the final leg in 46.39 seconds for a team time of 3:07.00, good for third in the heat. The team's time, which is the second-fastest in school history behind only their own time run at the Big Ten Championships, held on for seventh place and two points for the men.
The men's team finished the meet with 15 points, the second most in program history and the most since 2004. The 13th place finish is the second highest in program history, behind the only the program's sixth place finish in 2004. The men had the highest finish of any Big Ten team at the meet.
Enekwechi earned first team All-America honors in the weight throw and the shot put. He is Purdue's first All-American in the shot put since 2013. The men's 4x400m relay team is the first to earn All-America honors indoors in program history. Charlton is the first woman to earn All-America honors in the 60m hurdles in program history.
Also Saturday, Anaquan Peterson competed in the triple jump. He finished 13th with a best mark of 15.50m (50-10.25). The women's 4x400m relay team of Symone Black, Carmiesha Cox, Aarin Jones and Brionna Thomas finished 11th in the country with a time of 3:34.12. That time is the second fastest in program history behind their own school record set at Big Tens.
The women's 4x400m relay team, Peterson, Katie Hoevet, Savannah Carson and Thomas all earned second team All-America honors, giving the Boilermakers eight second team honors to go with the seven first team honors.
The women's team finished 33rd with six points, its second best since 2008.
The meet wrapped up the indoor season for the Boilermakers. Purdue immediately begins the outdoor season and will open this weekend with the Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
