WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
The Purdue women beat the Indiana for the third straight year, while the Hoosier men outscored the Boilermaker men in the 39th Purdue vs. Indiana Dual. Savannah Carson broke the 60-meter dash school record and won two events on the day.

Carson opened her day with the long jump, where she was coming off a personal record the week before when she jumped 6.06 meters (19-10.75). Saturday, she jumped 6.07m (19-11.00) to win the event, move into sixth place in program history and rank 17th in the NCAA this season. Later, Carson lined up in the 60m dash against teammate and school record holder, Devynne Charlton. Carson broke her own personal best by 0.05 of a second by running a time of 7.35 seconds. That time is 0.03 of a second faster than Charlton's previous school record. Carson's time is tied for fifth in the country this season. The two wins earned Carson and the Purdue women 10 points.

Charlton had a good day on the track, too. She finished second in the 60m dash in her first race at that distance this season, running a time of 7.44 seconds to earn three points, finishing just behind Carson. In the 60m hurdles, Charlton ran away from the competition, finishing in 8.31 seconds to win by 0.38 of a second over second place. Charlton also ran the 200m dash and finished with the fastest time. The junior ran a time of 24.26 seconds to win by 0.40 of a second. Her time converts to 23.89, which ranks 16th in the country.

The women won seven of the 10 running events Saturday. Brionna Thomas won the 400m dash, crossing the finish line in 55.39 seconds. Her time converts to 54.67 seconds, which ranks ninth in the country. Thomas also ran the anchor leg of the women's 4x400m relay, which posted a winning time of 3:40.58 to win by more than 10 seconds. That time converts to 3:37.69, which is the second fastest time in the country this season. Carmiesha Cox, Aarin Jones and Symone Black also ran for the Boilermakers in the mile relay. Black also finished second in the 400m dash. Her time converts to the nation's 17th best time.

Susan Hubbard PRed in the 800m run. She finished second with a time of 2:12.94, which converts to 2:11.41. That time ranks 18th in the country. Katie Hoevet and Kiara McIntosh went 1-2 in the women's mile. Hoevet finished in 4:46.29, which converts to 4:43.49, which is the second best in the country this year. McIntosh's time was 4:51.43, which converts to 4:48.58. That time is seventh in the country. The women's 4x800m relay team, which Hubbard, Hoevet and McIntosh all ran on, also with Vanessa McLeod, won with a time of 9:02.69.

The women's throwers went 1-2-3 in the shot put. Iversen was the winner, while Hazlewood was second and Bahler third.

"I thought the women competed exceedingly well," head coach Lonnie Greene said. "We had a school record and just missed another school record in the relay. We had so many great performances. Overall, I thought they competed very well. They represented the way I wanted them to represent."

On the men's side, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi won the weight throw and shot put to give the team 10 points. The senior threw 23.58m (77-4.25) in the weight throw to win. It was his second best mark of the season, yet still more than four feet better than any other competitor in the nation this season. Enekwechi then won the shot put with a winning mark of 19.01m (62-4.50). Though not his season best, the mark still ranks as the sixth best in the country.

Kyle Webb had a nice day on the track for the men. The junior transfer won the 200m dash, within 0.01 of a second off his season best, finished third in the 60m dash and was part of the winning 4x400m relay team. Purdue's 4x400m relay team of Webb, Kinard Rolle, Nicholas Parks and Kendal Frederick finished with a time of 3:13.93, which converts to 3:10.89. That time is the seventh best in the country this season. Malcolm Dotson had a pair of runner-up finishes in the 60m and 200m dashes. His time of 21.80 seconds in the 200m dash converts to 21.42, which ranks 16th in the country.

"We are way ahead of way we were at this time last year," Greene said. "It's phenomenal. It's setting up beautifully and this is the way that Purdue track & field should look. We are a good team. Our men will match up better in a multi-team meet, as opposed to a dual setting. When we get to a conference meet, the landscape changes. Next week will be a great test for us, but this is what I envisioned for us as a program across the board. We are in good shape."

The women's team won by the final score of 83-53, while the men lost 83-52. Both Indiana and Purdue won one point for their school in the Governor's Cup.

The Boilermakers are back in action next week as they head to Birmingham, Alabama, for the Conference Clash.
