WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The track & field teams return to action this weekend with their first home meet of the 2015-16 season. The Boilermakers welcome individuals from seven schools to the two-day Gene Edmonds Invitational, which will be held inside Lambert Fieldhouse. The meet starts Friday with the multi events, and wraps up Saturday evening with the rest of the track and field events.

THE COMPETITION

The Boilermakers welcome competitors from the following schools:
- Notre Dame
- Western Kentucky
- Northern Illinois
- IUPUI
- Calumet-St. Joseph
- Franklin College
- Lindsey Wilson College

BOILERMAKERS IN THE TOP 25
After opening the season on Dec. 11 in Bloomington, Indiana, the Boilermakers already have several individuals with top-25 marks nationally. The men's team is also ranked 24th in the country in the preseason poll.

- Junior Savannah Carson has the fourth fastest women's 60m dash time in the country, after she ran a 7.44-seconds time in the season opener.
- Carson also has 11th fastest women's 200m dash time in the country, with a PR of 24.37 seconds.
- Freshman Malcolm Dotson has the 11th fastest 60m dash time, after posting a 6.78-seconds time.
- Junior Kyle Webb has the 14th fastest 60m dash time in the country with a 6.79-seconds time in his first race as a Boilermaker.
- The men's and women's 4x400m relay teams currently boast the sixth fastest times in the country.
- Jessica Harter cleared 3.85m (12-7.50) in the pole vault, which ranks 18th in the country.
- Vania Anane opened with a 12.09m (39-8.00) mark in the triple jump, which ranks 17th in the country.
- Luke Lewis, who was named the men's Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week after the season opener, is currently 16th in the shot put with a mark of 17.35m (56-11.25).
- Micaela Hazlewood is 23rd in the women's shot put after the season opener.
- Sarah Loesch is 18th in the women's weight throw, while teammate Alisha Bahler is 25th in the event.

ADDING TO PURDUE'S TOP 10 LISTS
After the first meet, the Boilermakers added two names to the top 10 lists in program history, while bumping another one up.

- Dotson's time of 6.78 seconds in the 60m dash tied him for the sixth fastest in program history. Dotson is one of five athletes in the 60m dash top 10 who also played football for the Boilermakers.
- Webb's time of 6.79 seconds in the 60m dash tied him for eighth on Purdue's all-time list.
- Carson moved up from sixth to fifth on the women's 200m dash list. Carson completes the a top five list in program history that is made entirely of current Boilermakers, all of whom have at least one year of eligibility remaining after this year.

THE HEADLINERS
Most of the Boilermakers top individuals are scheduled to compete in the Gene Edmonds Invitational.

- Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, an eight-time All-American, is scheduled to open his season in the shot put and weight throw. Enekwechi holds the school record in the weight and is currently the fourth best individual in the history of the NCAA with a mark of 24.39m (80-00.25). Enekwechi owns three of the top 22 weight throws in the history of the NCAA, all divisions. He is also second in school history in the shot put.
- Carmiesha Cox, Devynne Charlton, Brionna Thomas and Savannah Roberson will compete in the 200m dash, where they hold the Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 9 fastest times in program history. Charlton will also run in the 60m hurdles, where she holds the school record.
- Symone Black, last year's Big Ten Indoor Freshman of the Year, will compete in the 400m dash, an event in which she finished second at the Big Ten Championships with a school record time of 53.47 seconds.
- Aarin Jones will also compete in the 400m dash, an event in which she holds the second fastest time in Purdue history.
- Dotson will compete in the 60m dash, where he is tied for the sixth best time in program history, and the 200m dash.
- Obokhare Ikpefan will compete in the 400m dash for the first time this season. He has the sixth fastest time in program history with a PR of 47.46 seconds.
- Anaquan Peterson is scheduled to compete in the triple jump, where he has the program's fourth best mark with a PR of 15.62m (51-03.00).
- Jessica Harter, the fourth best pole vaulter in program history, will compete in her event.
- Tim Deal will compete Friday and Saturday in the heptathlon. His best point total of 4,987 ranks sixth in program history.

THE SCHEDULE
The Gene Edmonds Invitational begins Friday at 3 p.m. ET with the heptathlon 60m dash. The pentathlon 60m hurdles will follow at 3:30. Friday's multi-event action is schedule to wrap up at 7:45 with the pentathlon 800m.

Saturday's action begins at 9:30 a.m. with the heptathlon 60m hurdles. The men's weight throw opens the field event action at 11 a.m., while the first track event is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the women's 60m dash. Saturday's action is scheduled to conclude at 5:25 with the men's 4x400m relay.
