MXC Wins Illini Open, WXC Takes Fourth

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -
The men's cross country team was nearly perfect in a win at the Illinois Open on Friday, while the women finished fourth. Harlow Ladd was the top finished for the Boilermakers, who finished the race with 17 points.

Ladd finished the 8,000-meter race third, but earned first place points since the top two runners were unattached or part of a team that did not run enough individuals to count towards a team score. Ben Mohrdieck was the Boilermakers' second runner to finish, after crossing the line sixth to earn second place points. David Dalton was third and Andrew Cartwright was fifth for Purdue, with seventh and 10th place finishes, respectively. Tyler Wynn rounded out the scoring with a 12th place finish, scoring six points.

The times for the men's race are unavailable due to technical difficulties.

Purdue finished first with 17 points, while Illinois State was second with 45. Butler was third with 74 and Loyala (Ill.) fourth with 99.

On the women's side, Anna Dolce was Purdue's first finisher in the 4,980-meter race. She finished ninth overall and earned seventh-place points with a time of 18:48.88. Renee Studt was second for the Boilermakers. She took 18th and earned 13 points for the Boilermakers with a final time of 19:06.68. Reagan Lear was 32nd overall and picked up 25 points, as she finished in 19:24.99.

Sarah Tyler was the fourth Boilermaker to finish. She crossed the line in 19:34.92 to take 37th place and pick up 29 points. Rachel Yuska rounded out the scoring with a 43rd place-finish time of 19:54.79. She earned 33 points for the women's squad.

The Boilermakers were fourth 107 points. Bradley won the meet with 30 points, while Northwestern was second with 80. Illinois took third with 93 points.

The core group of Boilermakers will be back in action next week as the team begins the championships portion of the schedule. Purdue heads to Chicago for the Big Ten Championship on Sunday, Nov. 1.
