USTFCCCA Release

EUGENE, Ore. -
The United State Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its regional winners on Monday and a pair of Boilermakers picked up honors. Matthew McClintock was named the men's Great Lakes Regional Track Athlete of the Year, while Angela Goodman was tabbed the region's women's Assistant Coach of the Year.

McClintock is the second Boilermaker in as many years to pick up the men's regional track athlete award. Raheem Mostert, now with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, earned the honor last season. Lonnie Greene was also honored last year as the women's head coach of the region. Regional awards are voted on by the schools' coaches.

McClintock earned the award after most recently winning the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Florida. The junior had a stellar month of May, where he won the 5,000m run at the Big Ten Championships and also finished runner-up in the 10k. He broke both school records this season, and became the first 5k Big Ten champion in school history. McClintock will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday in the 10,000m at 9:43 p.m. ET. Coverage will be available live on ESPNU.

Goodman, who coaches sprints, hurdles and relays, picks up her first regional honor. She has worked with Devynne Charlton who won the Big Ten Championship in the 100m dash and was runner-up in the 100m hurdles. Charlton broke both school records and is a member of the school record 4x100m relay team. She will compete this week at the NCAA Championships in the 100m hurdles and 4x100m relay. Goodman also works with members of the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays, both of which qualified for the NCAA Championships. She helped coach an extremely young group, including freshmen Symone Black and Brionna Thomas and sophomores Charlton, Carmiesha Cox and Savannah Carson to the top five times in program history in the 4x100m relay, as well as the top three times in the 4x400m relay.

The Boilermakers have seven entries in this week's national championships. A full preview for the meet will be posted to PurdueSports.com on Tuesday.
