WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
The Boilermakers are set to begin the Big Ten Championships on Friday afternoon. Purdue heads to East Lansing, Michigan, for the event hosted by Michigan State, a year after Purdue hosted in West Lafayette. The meet runs Friday through Sunday at Ralph Young Track and Field.

The action begins Friday at noon ET with the decathlon 100-meter dash. Purdue's action begins at 1:30 p.m. with the men's hammer throw and the women's pole vault. Both events are the trials and finals. Chukwuebuka Enekwechi is the defending Big Ten Champion in the men's hammer throw. In the women's pole vault, Jessica Harter made the podium a year ago and will look to duplicate her efforts, while newcomer Jacqueline Williams has the top mark for the Boilermakers this season.

The women's hammer throw is also Friday and slated for a 3:30 p.m. start. Alisha Bahler has been the team's leader in the event all season. Matthew McClintock will compete in his first event of the championships on Friday night. The junior will run the 10,000m race, which he has the top Big Ten time of the season heading into the event.

Saturday's action begins at 9:30 a.m. with the decathlon 110m hurdles. The Boilermakers' first event is 1 p.m. with the men's discus. Saturday's action is schedule to go until 7 p.m. and resumes Sunday at 11 a.m. The final event will conclude Sunday at 3:45 p.m.

Purdue's women's team will look to improve upon its third-place finish from last season. The women also tied for third during this year's indoor campaign. On the men's side, the Boilermakers took fifth a year ago.

The Purdue women will be led by their sprinters, who have been among the top in the conference all season long. Devynne Charlton is the school record holder in the 100m dash, 100m hurdles and is a member of the 4x100m relay school record team. Teammate, classmate and fellow Bahamian Carmiesha Cox holds the 200m school record and is a member of the school record 4x400m relay team. The women's 4x100m and 4x400m relays both rank in the top two in the conference this season. Freshman Symone Black, who was Big Ten Freshman of the Year, will look to add to the 4x400m relay team, as well as compete in her first Big Ten  400m hurdles championship.

On the men's side, Enekwechi leads the way with the hammer throw and shot put. Tyler Askew is among the top long jumpers in the Big Ten, while Anaquan Peterson looks to continue his consistent season in the triple jump. Obokhare Ikpefan has the school's second-fastest 400m hurdles time.
