DES MOINES, Iowa -
Purdue wrapped up the Drake Relays on Saturday afternoon and broke a couple more school records. The women broke the shuttle hurdle relay school record, while Devynne Charlton took down the 100-meter hurdles program standard. The women's team tied for third in the scored relay meet with 20 points.

The women's shuttle hurdle relay team opened the morning with the prelims. The team of Devynne Charlton, Shantyra Delaney, Symone Black and Cierra Brown ran a time of 56.18 seconds to take second and advance to the finals. There, the team went to work and took down the school record with a second-place time of 54.65 seconds, just 0.30 of a second behind the winning time.

Charlton had a great individual day in the hurdles as well. A day after qualifying for the finals, Charlton ran the best race of her career. The sophomore took third overall with a time of 13.06 seconds (wind +1.1) to shatter the nine-year old school record of 13.27 seconds set by Leah Kincaid. Charlton's time ranks eighth in the country for the season and second in the Big Ten.

"We are competing exceedingly well," head coach Lonnie Greene said. "We are spinning up at the right time. I like the way we are competing heading into the tail end of the season. If we can keep doing what we are doing and keep improving we will be very tough in the Big Ten. We just have to finish.  It's coming together at the right time."

Jacqueline Williams climbed into the top five in program history in the pole vault. The senior first-year Boilermaker finished eighth after clearing a personal best 4.05m (13-3.50), the same height as the fourth-place finisher. The height is two inches higher than Williams' previous outdoor PR from last week and moves her from a tie for sixth in school history to fifth, just behind teammate Jessica Harter, who is fourth. Harter finished 18th with a clearance of 3.90m (12-9.50) on Saturday.

Chukwuebuka Enekwechi won the men's hammer throw and took fourth in the shot put Saturday. The junior threw 67.81m (222-6) in the hammer to win by more than eight feet. In the shot put, Enekwechi recorded a mark of 18.40m (60-4.50).

The women's 4x100m relay team took second Saturday. The team of Savannah Carson, Carmiesha Cox, Charlton and Autumn Heath ran a time of 44.82 seconds. That time was just 0.02 of a second behind the winning time, and is 0.20 of a second behind Purdue's best mark of the season, which is the school record. The women's 4x400m relay also took second Saturday. Aarin Jones, Cox, Black and Brionna Thomas ran a time of 3:34.05 a day after breaking the school record. The school record time of 3:33.50 sits 12th in the country and ninth when schools with multiple marks are removed.

The Boilermakers will be back in action next weekend with their only home meet of the spring. The team hosts the Rankin/Poehlein Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
