Men's Tennis Hosts Iowa and Nebraska

April 2, 2015

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After six road matches, the 4-12, 0-4 B1G Purdue men's tennis teams returns home to the Schwartz Tennis Center Friday to host Iowa at 3 p.m. ET and Nebraska Sunday at 1 p.m. The 68th-ranked Hawkeyes sport a 10-5, 2-2 B1G record. Prior to Sunday's match, the No. 73 Huskers will take their 9-7, 2-2 B1G mark into battle at No. 44 Indiana Friday.

In honor of Tom Reiter, Friday is Be The Match® Day. Tom was a longtime member of the Purdue athletics department and in January of 2014, passed away following a battle with cancer. Individuals will be able to join the Be The Match® National Registry and be someone's cure. The five-minute process includes a simple form and a cheek swab.

Be The Match® will be on hand Friday at the Schwartz Tennis Center starting at 2:30 p.m. A silent auction will also be held at this time, closing at the completion of doubles. Items up for bid include rackets, tennis balls, a tennis racket bag, grips and more. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Be The Match® in Tom's honor.

The Boilers fell to both Minnesota (4-0) and Wisconsin (6-1) in their last outing, but Arthur Dobradin was able to pull off a win at the No. 4 spot against Badger Michael Sinha, tallying a score of 6-4, 7-6 (6). The trio of Ricky Medinilla, Diego Acosta and Arthur Dobradin each own a total of six singles wins to lead the way for the Old Gold & Black.

For the first time in three matches, the Hawkeyes are hitting the road. In their last three matches at home, they went 2-1 with wins against Michigan and Wisconsin, beating both teams 4-3. Their No. 1 singles player, Matt Hagan, who is ranked 96th, posts a season record of 7-6 and has gone 1-2 against nationally ranked players.

Nebraska is 3-6 on the road and is coming off of a pair of wins in its last outing, beating both Michigan State (4-3) and Michigan (4-0), at home. Purdue is 3-1 all-time versus the Huskers. When they last came to West Lafayette in 2013, the Boilers won, 7-0.
