MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Boilermakers wrapped up their spring break trip at the Shamrock Invitational on Saturday. The track and field teams added a couple namesto the all-time Purdue lists on both men's and women's sides.



Carmiesha Cox matched the second-fastest wind-legal time in program history in the 100-meter dash Saturday. Cox finished third overall with a time of 11.77 seconds with a tailwind of 1.7 meters per second. Savannah Carson took fifth with a time of 11.98 seconds in the event. Cierra Brown and Shantyra Delaney were also in Saturday finals. Brown took fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.21 seconds, while Delaney was eighth in 14.59.



The women's 4x100m relay team missed the school record by 0.20 of a second and finished second overall. The team of Devynne Charlton, Cox, Carson and Autumn Heath finished with a time of 45.55 seconds. The Boilermakers 4x400m relay team also finished second Saturday. Taylor Dunlap, Aarin Jones, Symone Black and Makayla Earnheart finished with a time of 3:40.64.



Black also went on to win the 400m hurdles. The indoor Big Ten Freshman of the Year ran a time of 59.00 seconds to win by 3.29 seconds. Her time is just outside the top five in Purdue school history. Addison Hall was second in the event with a time of 1:02.29, a new personal best by 0.81 of a second.



Micaela Hazelwood had a strong debut in the discus. The freshman took second with a lifetime PR of 48.41m (158-10). Jessica DelBovo was second in the event with a throw of 44.72m (146-09). Vanessa McLeod was a winner in the women's 800m run. She finished with a time of 2:11.62 to win by more than half a second. Hope Schmelzle and Michelle Potter finished first and second in the 3k. Schmelzle won with a time of 9:59.35, while Potter was second in 10:09.01.



On the men's side, the Boilermakers took second in the 4x400m relay. Chris Arvia, Obokhare Ikpefan, Kendal Frederick and Nicholas Park ran a time of 3:14.24. Demetrius Carr had an outdoor PR in the triple jump. He leapt 14.74m (48-4.50) into a headwind of 1.5 meters per second. Carr finished fourth in the competition.



Ikpefan also had a big day in the 400m hurdles. The sophomore ran a 0.68 of a second PR and finished second overall with a time of 51.85 seconds. That time ranks fifth in school history. Chukwuebuka Enekwechi and Luke Lewis took second and third, respectively, in the shot put. Enekwechi opened his outdoor campaign with a mark of 18.16m (59-7.00), while Lewis put the shot 17.13m (56-2.50).



The Boilermakers will be back in action next week with the Texas Relays, which begin on Thursday.
