Razorback Invite Next for Track and Field

Jan. 29, 2015

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue track and field teams continue their seasons this weekend at their biggest meet of the season to date. The Boilermakers head to Fayetteville, Ark., the site of the 2015 NCAA Indoor Championships, for the Razorback Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas.

The Boilermakers are coming off their best meet of the season. The women's team broke three school records and added 10 marks that rank in the top 10 in program history, while the men also surpassed a school best. Those results came at the Notre Dame Invitational.

Purdue is scheduled to send 47 individuals to the Razorback Invitational, with 26 women and 21 men set to compete.

On the women's side, three of Purdue's six fastest 60-meter dashers in program history are scheduled to compete. Twyla Winfrey and Savannah Carson both have personal bests of 7.50 seconds, which rank tied for third in program history, and Carmiesha Cox has a PR of 7.55 seconds, which ranks sixth. Cox will also run in the 200m, where she owns the school record, but former record holder and current No. 2 Devynne Charlton as well as No. 3 Brionna Thomas will compete for the top spot among Boilermakers. Savannah Roberson is also slated to compete in the 200m and her PR is just outside the top 10 in program history. Charlton is also slated to compete in the 60m hurdles, where she currently boasts the nation's eighth-best time.

The talented women's 400m runners will have their toughest test to date as well. School record holder Aarin Jones and No. 6 in program history Symone Black are scheduled to run, while Megan Paul, Taylor Dunlap and Makayla Earnheart will try to put their names on the list of the best in school history. The Boilermakers will make a 4x400m relay team, likely from that group of five, which looks to chase the school record of 3:38.71, which was set last week.

Other competitors on the women's side that rank among the top 10 in program history include triple jump school record holder Cierra Brown, No. 4 pole vaulter in program history Jacqueline Williams and No. 7 long jumper in school history Carson.

On the men's side, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi and Raheem Mostert highlight the group competing. Enekwechi has a top five weight throw mark in NCAA history, which is a school record and currently ranks No. 2 in the country, with a distance of 24.04m (78-10.50). Enekwechi will continue his chase of the shot put school record, where he has the No. 2 mark in program history. His top mark this season ranks 13th in the country. Mostert is scheduled to make his season debut this week. The 60m school record holder will compete in that event, as well as the 200m dash, where he has the school's No. 2 time.

Matthew McClintock is also scheduled to make his season debut. The 3,000- and 5,000-meter school record holder will open his season in the 3k.

The two-day meet begins on Friday at noon ET, with running events scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's action is also scheduled to begin at noon. Live results for the meet will be available on PurdueSports.com. Full recaps and results will also be posted following the conclusion of each day.
