Time Schedule/Heat Sheets
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermakers are back in action at Saturday, as the track and field teams head north to South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame Invitational. The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. ET at the Loftus Sports Center.
Purdue will be one of six teams at the meet, including Notre Dame and Big Ten foe Michigan State. Indiana State, Eastern Michigan and DePaul will also compete at the meet.
Purdue is scheduled to travel 65 athletes, including its main core of contributors from early on this season. Devynne Charlton will be among the women to watch, as she is schedule to compete in the 60m dash, 60m hurdles, 200m dash and the 4x400m relay. Charlton will try to reclaim her school record in the 200m, after classmate and fellow Bahamian Carmiesha Cox broke the mark last week at the IU/Purdue Dual. Charlton and Cox are both scheduled to run in section four of the five section 200m finals.
Also on the women's side, the Boilermakers have 11 individuals scheduled to run in the 60m dash. Among the 11 are four of the six fastest female 60-meter sprinters in program history, led by Charlton who has the second fastest mark ever at Purdue with a time of 7.47 seconds. Twyla Winfrey, Savannah Carson and Cox are also among the top six.
The women will also look to crack the program top fives in the 400m dash, as five individuals are scheduled to compete, including school record holder Aarin Jones. Talented newcomers Megan Paul and Symone Black will also compete in the race, as well as Taylor Dunlap and Mackenzie Tromble. The Boilermakers also have 10 individuals scheduled to compete in the 200m dash, including the top two in program history and three of the top six. All three, Cox Charlton and Brionna Thomas, are underclassmen.
On the men's side, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi will look to continue his impressive season in the shot put and weight throw. Enekwechi, the school record holder in the weight and No. 2 in the shot put, currently holds the top weight throw mark in the country and is 13th in the shot put. Alongside him in the shot will be teammate Jordan Roos. Roos, a two-sport star, will look to improve upon his career day last week at the IU/Purdue Dual, where he threw the nation's No. 21 mark in the event, a distance of 18.24m (59-10.25).
Among the men's sprinters on Saturday will be Akeem Hunt. Hunt competed on the track as a freshman in 2012, before sitting out the last two years to focus on football. He is scheduled to compete in the 60m dash.
