WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Lafayette Kiwanis Club and the Purdue football program capped off the 2014 season with the 94th annual Senior Appreciation Banquet at the Purdue Memorial Union on Sunday. Running back Akeem Hunt, safety Landon Feichter and kicker Paul Griggs were named the offensive, defensive and special teams MVPs in a vote by their teammates.
Freshman quarterback David Blough and sophomore defensive end Ryan DeBusk were named the Verle H. Campbell Award winners, which is presented to the outstanding scout team players of the year as selected by the coaching staff.
Senior tight end and team captain Justin Sinz was named the Guy "Red" Mackey Award winner - presented to a player on each varsity team at Purdue that exemplify the overall success of the University's intercollegiate athletics programs - as well the second annual "A" Player Award as a team member who earned an "A" in the classroom, on the football field and in the community.
Junior center and team captain Robert Kugler was presented with the Noble E. Kizer Award, which is awarded to the football player with the highest grade point average over the last two semesters.
The Leonard Wilson Award, presented to the player who best exemplifies the unselfishness and dedication of the late Leonard Wilson, was given to senior linebacker Collin Link.
After rushing for 171 yards on 19 carries, including a career-long 82-yard touchdown run against rival Indiana, Hunt was named the "Pop" Doan Award winner for the best performance against the rival Hoosiers.
The Kiwanis Citizenship Award was presented to Kugler for his on-field play, community service and dedication to academics.
