DAYTON, Ohio - The Purdue women's basketball team came up just short on the road on Sunday, suffering a 63-61 loss at Dayton's UD Arena. The Boilermakers had a few attempts to tie or win in the final minute, but were unable to convert as they fall to 3-4 on the season.

It was another tale of two halves for the Old Gold and Black as they went to the locker room trailing 36-26, shooting just 29 percent (9-31) and committing 11 turnovers, while Dayton cashed in 42.4 percent from the floor (14-33) and outscored Purdue 17-8 on the fast break and 9-3 off of turnovers.

After halftime the Boilermakers came out with a vengeance, outscoring Dayton 35-27. Purdue outscored Dayton in the paint, 20-12, off of turnovers, 10-2, and on the fast break, 14-3. However, Purdue made only 31.8 percent from the floor and finished just two-of-16 from behind the arc. The Boilermakers grabbed a season-high 51 rebounds, including 19 on the offensive end, and committed just five turnovers in the second half.

Senior Whitney Bays had a monster game for the Boilermakers, posting 19 points, 18 rebounds and five steals, while sophomore Bridget Perry set new career-highs with 15 points and eight rebounds, while adding three steals.

Seniors Andrea Hoover and Ally Malott paced Dayton with 20 points apiece, while junior Jodie Cornelie-Sigmundova had 10 rebounds and six blocks. The Flyers improved to 4-3 with the win and extended the second-longest home win streak in the country with their 28th straight win at UD Arena.

Purdue returns to action on Thursday, hosting Kansas at Mackey Arena at 7 p.m.
