COMPLETE RESULTS
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - It was a perfect day for the Purdue women's tennis team as the Boilermakers combined to go 14-0 while playing indoors during the second day of the Purdue Invite Saturday held at the Schwartz Tennis Center. The Old Gold and Black posted a 6-0 mark in doubles and were dominate in singles play while going 8-0. The tournament concludes Sunday with one round of singles competition starting at 8:30 a.m. ET.
Daniela Vidal and Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum posted a pair of wins in doubles play to remain unbeaten at 8-0. The veteran duo took an 8-6 match from Michigan's Mira Ruder-Hook and Alex Najarian to begin the day and then cruised past Hortense Boscher and Sabrina Federici of Texas Tech, 8-2.
The Purdue team of Deborah Suarez and Andjela Djokovic made easy work of their opponents, defeating Christine Guerazzi and Ana Rajkovic of Miami (Ohio), 8-3, and Memphis' Liza Tymchenko and Alyssa Hibberd, 8-2.
Krisztina Kapitany and Nicole Robinson rounded out the Boilermakers' efforts with an 8-4 win over Samantha Czarniak Rego and Katelyn Jackson of Texas Tech and captured an 8-6 match from Anki Wind and Marta Morga of Memphis.
Purdue dominated its singles competition, winning all eight of its battles in straight sets and registered a trio of shutout sets. Going up against her first ranked opponent as a Boilermaker, Suarez did not disappoint. The junior had no problem getting past No. 110 Marta Morga of Memphis, surrendering just three games in the straight-set upset, 6-0, 6-3.
Kapitany also had an impressive singles performance, giving up just one game as she downed Louisville's Cassie Pough, 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Natalia Davila rolled to her second win in as many days with a 6-1, 6-2 decision of Katelyn Jackson of Texas Tech. Lynda Xepoleas used a 6-3, 6-4 match to defeat another Red Raider, Samantha Czarniak Rego.
Mirrored scores of 6-1, 6-4 were recorded by sophomore counterparts Djokovic and Robinson against Michigan's Kristen Dodge and Olivia Boesing of Louisville, respectively. Vidal had no issues disposing of Ruder-Hook, 6-2, 6-0.
As one of the last matches to come off the court, Bernard-Feigenbaum emerged in a first-set breaker, 7-6 (3), against Michigan's Liza Tymchenko, and used a 6-2 second set to close out the match.
Five teams are featured in the tournament in addition to the hosting Boilermakers: Michigan, Texas Tech, Louisville, Miami (Ohio) and Memphis.
