The Boilermakers continued their stellar fall doubles play, winning all six of their matches Friday. Deborah Suarez and Krisztina Kapitany pushed their record to 4-0 together by defeating Olivia Boesing and Ariana Rodriguez of Louisville (8-2) and the Illinois tandem of Grace Tapak and Jerricka Boone (8-4).
Sophomore duo Andjela Djokovic and Nicole Robinson were pushed to the breaker against Louisville's Aleksandra Mally and Manuela Velasquez and emerged victorious, 8-7 (3). They followed with an 8-4 win over the Fighting Illini's Madie Baillon and Jade Hilton, improving their mark to 3-1.
The Purdue team of Lynda Xepoleas and Natalia Davila also moved to 3-1 while playing side-by-side. Going up against two Cardinal teams, they first disposed of Cassie Pough and Jessie Lynn Paul, 8-6, and notched an 8-5 win against Elle Stokes and Ellie Gerlach.
The Boilermaker train didn't slow down as play shifted to singles. Purdue won five of six matches in straight-sets and took another in a 10-point tiebreaker while playing Miami (Ohio) and Louisville. Djokovic notched her 10th-straight victory of the fall season, a 6-3, 6-4 showing against Red Hawk Hannah Shteyn. The sophomore remains undefeated at 10-0.
Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum surrendered just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 dismantling of Andreea Badileanu while moving her record to 7-1. Kapitany and Robinson posted mirroring scores of 6-3, 6-4 against Christine Guerrazzi and Ramona Costea, respectively. The wins lifted both of the Boilermakers' records to 6-4 in their fall campaigns.
In a battle against Louisville's Gerlach, it was Purdue's Xepoleas with the win, 6-1, 6-3. Suarez took the opening set from her Miami (Ohio) opponent, Alix Thurman, 6-4, but the Red Hawk evened the match with a 7-6 second set. It was a back-and-forth battle in the 10-point tiebreaker and in the end Suarez wouldn't be denied, winning 11-9 and improving to 7-3 this fall.
