COMPLETE RESULTS

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team won nine matches to open the Purdue Invite Friday at the Schwartz Tennis Center. Rain forced play to be moved indoors on the first of the three day tournament and it is anticipated weather conditions will have Saturday's matches also contested indoors. Two rounds of doubles and one round of singles are slated for Saturday starting at 9 a.m. ET.

The Boilermaker tandem of Daniela Vidal and Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum led the way for the Old Gold and Black by winning both of their doubles matches. They began the day with an 8-3 decision over Christine Guerazzi and Ana Rajkovic of Miami (Ohio). The veteran duo then made easy work of Louisville's Aleksandra Mally and Olivia Boesing, 8-1.

After suffering an 8-7 (5) tiebreaker loss in their first match, Purdue's Deborah Suarez and Andjela Djokovic rallied to defeat Hannah Shteyn and Alix Thurman of Miami (Ohio), 8-6.

Six singles victories were registered by the Boilermakers, highlighted by the return of Lynda Xepoleas, who made her first appearance after suffering a season-ending injury on Feb. 1, 2014. The senior came out and took the first set from Memphis' Alyssa Hibberd, 6-3, but the Tiger responded in the second set, 6-4. Xepoleas cruised in the decisive set en route to winning the match, 6-2.

Bernard-Feigenbaum came away with a three-set win by taking the first and third sets from Michigan's Alex Najarian, while the Wolverine won the second, all by set scores of 6-4. Sara Remynse of Michigan stole the first set from Suarez in a breaker, 7-6 (3), only to have the Purdue junior storm back in the second and third sets, 6-3, 6-0. Djokovic also prevailed after dropping the opening set to Mally, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

Straight-set victories were captured by Vidal and sophomore Natalia Davila. Vidal used a 6-2, 6-4 match to down Louisville's Ariana Rodriguez, while Davila beat Shteyn, 6-4, 6-4.

Five teams are featured in the tournament in addition to the hosting Boilermakers: Michigan, Texas Tech, Louisville, Miami (Ohio) and Memphis.
