COMPLETE RESULTS

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Andjela Djokovic upset No. 46 Stephanie Vlad of Arizona State in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (0), to highlight the Purdue women's tennis team's first day at the June Stewart Invitational Friday. The Boilermakers captured wins in two other singles matches and registered a doubles victory while playing at the Currey Tennis Center. Action will resume Saturday at 10 a.m. ET.

Djokovic's win over the Sun Devil marked the highest-ranked opponent the sophomore has taken down in her career as she improved to 7-0 this fall. As a freshman she upended Northwestern's then-No. 97 Maddie Lipp, also in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Krisztina Kapitany and Daniela Vidal each bounced back from a first-set loss to take their match in three sets. Kapitany defeated Vanderbilt's Ashleigh Antal, 7-5, 6-3, in the second and third sets after falling in the opening set, 6-2, to pick up her fourth win of the fall campaign. Kassidy Jump of Arizona State took a 6-3 first set from Vidal, but the senior Boilermaker disposed of Jump in the next two sets, 6-4, 7-5. Vidal's fall record now stands at 6-1.

Purdue was only able to come out on top in one of its four doubles matches. Playing together for the first time, Lynda Xepoleas and Nicole Robinson downed the Commodores' duo of Marie Casares and Payton Robinette, 6-4, 7-5.

The tournament is being played as a hidden dual, which resembles the dual format used in spring competition. Rather than using a traditional singles and doubles draw, the June Stewart Invitational will feature three dual matches for each team, each comprised of three doubles matches and six singles matches. Participating teams include Purdue, Arizona State, Princeton and host Vanderbilt.
