COMPLETE RESULTS
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Purdue women's tennis team remained in control in the second day of the Notre Dame Invitational Saturday. The Boilermakers won nine of their 12 matches while playing two rounds of doubles and one round of singles matches at the Courtney Tennis Center.
Purdue began the day by taking five of its six singles matches. Krisztina Kapitany, Daniela Vidal, Deborah Suarez and Andjela Djokovic defeated their opponents in straight sets as each picked up their second win of the fall season. Kapitany defeated Notre Dame's Katherine White, 6-1, 6-2, and Vidal used a 6-0, 6-2 match to get past Ipek Birol of Tulane. Going up against Aleksandra Mally of Louisville, Suarez posted scores of 6-1 and 6-4 to get the win. Djokovic made easy work of Illinois' Grace Tapak, 6-3, 6-1.
After falling 7-6 in the opening set, Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum rallied in the second and third sets, 6-4, 6-3. The lone loss suffered by the Boilermakers was a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Julia Jamieson of Illinois by Nicole Robinson.
The doubles teams of Kapitany and Robinson, along with Bernard-Feigenbaum and Vidal, both improved to 4-0 with a pair of wins. Kapitany and Robinson edged Kwong and Tapak of Illinois, 8-7. The junior/sophomore duo then notched an 8-5 victory over the Fighting Irish team of Molly O'Koniewski and Allie Miller. In their first match of the day, Bernard-Feigenbaum and Vidal beat Julie Vrabel and White of Notre Dame, 8-5, followed by an 8-6 upending of Louisville's Mally and Olivia Boesing.
Djokovic and Suarez were dealt an 8-6 setback by Birol and Nicki Stracar of Tulane and an 8-5 loss by Illinois' Kwong and Tapak.
The three-day event concludes Sunday with one round of singles matches starting at 9 a.m. ET. Teams featured at the event include Illinois, Louisville, Tulane, Akron and host Notre Dame.
