WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 2014 edition of the Boilermaker volleyball team will measure its preseason progress with a 6 p.m. match against program alumnae on Saturday, Aug. 23. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be the final chance to fans to see the Boilermakers in action before the Aug. 29 home opener.
All-American setters Renata (Dargan) Vonesh (2002-05) and Jaclyn (Hart) Groves (2007-10) will lead the alumnae team.
Seven other players will round out the alumnae roster and three other former Boilers are scheduled to be in attendance.
Joining Vonesh and Groves in the front court will be 2013 honorable mention All-Region selection Catherine Rebarchak (2009-13), 2003 All-Big Ten Freshman team honoree Melanie (Ukovich) Kunz (2003-06), three time Big Ten Freshman of the Week honoree Anna (Drewry) Haley (2009-12) and 2010 student assistant coach Lisa Pierce (2006-09).
Two-time honorable mention All-Big Ten selection and 2013 honorable mention all-region honoree Carly Cramer (2009-13), 2008 honorable mention all-region selection Kelli Miller (2005-08) and 2012 Carol Dewey Mental Attitidue/Toughness Award honoree Amanda Miller (2008-12) will hold down the back court.
Bev Dills, who played on the Purdue club team in the 1970s, Cheryl (Flowers) Gavin (1982-85), who was an honorable mention All-Big Ten and second team Academic All-America selection in 1985, and Lindsay (Shondell) Morgan (2003-06), will watch from the sidelines.
