ATLANTA, Ga. - Purdue women's basketball senior Courtney Moses was named one of 36 semifinalists for the 2014 Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup on Tuesday, marking the second straight year a Boilermaker has made the list following Drey Mingo, who was a finalist last year. The Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup is unique because it is open to all athletes in all sports and is given to those who have made the greatest difference in the lives of others.
The Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup is presented to two distinguished athletes - one collegiate and one professional - who have made the greatest difference in the lives of others. The recipients are athletes of excellence both on and off the field, role models both as performers and persons. This is the second service-oriented honor of the year for Moses, who has also been named a nominee for the WBCA/NABC/Allstate Good Works Team as well.
Moses has been incredibly involved in the Purdue community, in addition to other works in her hometown and internationally. She has taken missionary trips to Haiti and South Africa and is extremely involved in the Purdue chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Boilermaker Athletic Council. Through some of these works she's helped found the Boiler-Maker-Wish program and IMPACT project, both have which have impacted the youth of the Lafayette/West Lafayette area.
Despite making the semifinalist list, Moses was not advanced as one of the five finalists who will attend the post-season ceremony in Atlanta. She was one of just two Big Ten Conference athletes to be named to the semifinalists, along with Ohio State's Aaron Craft, who was named a finalist.
