MADISON, Wis. - Two Boilermakers set personal records at the Wisconsin Last Chance meet on Friday and one of them put herself in contention to qualify for the NCAA Championships with a school record. Dani Bunch and Terri Anderson both had career days in the shot put.
Bunch, a recent runner-up at the Big Ten Championships in the shot put, moved her name to the top of the list in Purdue lore for the indoor shot put. The sophomore threw a distance of 16.65m (54-07.50) on her second attempt of the meet which bested the previous school best of 16.47m (54-00.50) set by Stacey Wannemacher in 2010. Bunch's distance was good for a second place finish as Wisconsin's Kelsey Card put up a mark of 16.71m (54-10.00). Bunch also now has the 15th best mark in the nation in the event. The top 16 individuals plus ties qualify for the NCAA Championships, so the sophomore will have to wait the weekend out to see if her mark holds up. She also is in position to qualify in the weight throw.
Anderson had a nice performance on the afternoon as well. The senior put up a personal best of 15.59m (51-01.75). That distance earned her sixth place at the meet.
