WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Toyinda Wilson-Long has been named the new supervisor of track and field operations, head coach Jack Warner announced this week. She is making the move back to the athletics department after serving as the Purdue campus director of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Indiana Project. Wilson-Long has been a higher education administrator at Purdue for more than 11 years.

Prior to her employment at Purdue, Wilson-Long was a Boilermaker student from 1994-99. In 1995, she joined the track and field team as a walk-on and eventually went on to be one of the most decorated track and field athletes to ever wear the old gold and black. During her time as a student athlete, Wilson-Long was an NCAA Champion, two-time indoor All-American, five time Big Ten Champion, and two time runner-up in the discus, hammer, and weight throws.

After graduating from Purdue with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Sociology and an Associates of Science in Organizational Leadership and Supervision in 1999, Wilson-Long competed for the Indiana Invaders where she placed third at the 2002 USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the weight throw. She also joined the Purdue track and field team as a volunteer assistant coach from 2001-04. In 2006, Wilson-Long was inducted into the IATCCC Hall of Fame.

"It's really exciting to be back in athletics," said Wilson-Long. "This is where I started and developed as an athlete and a person. To be able to return to Purdue track and field really is a dream come true."
