WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Behind a goal from Alexis Tryba, Purdue women's soccer improved to 2-0 on the spring season with a 1-0 victory at Vanderbilt Saturday (Feb. 26) afternoon.
The game was played at Vanderbilt Stadium, home of the Commodore football team, in the heart of Nashville, Tenn. Feb. 19, the Boilermakers kicked off their spring season with a victory against Butler, a game played indoors in the Mollenkopf Athletic Center.
Tryba joined Marta Lynch and Jessica Warren as Purdue players to score a goal so far this spring. Tryba's well-struck shot was deemed a great goal by the coaching staff and Tryba said it was one of the top scoring efforts of her college career.
Lynch and Warren both scored twice in the Butler victory. Both have seen action at center back this spring next to junior Brookley Rodgers.
Clara Kridler has served as the starting goalkeeper this spring, playing all 180 minutes of the first two games. She helped keep Vanderbilt off the scoreboard Saturday.
Due to construction beginning on the Varsity Soccer Complex this month, the March 26 home game against Valparaiso will also be played indoors in Mollenkopf. This Saturday (March 5), the Boilermakers welcome alumni back to campus for a 7-on-7 tournament versus current players in Mollenkopf.
