Boilermakers Lose Ground In Second Round

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The fourth-ranked Purdue women's golf team dropped to a three-way tie for 14th with a score of 630, after firing a 327 in the second round at the Tiger/Wave Golf Classic.

The weather conditions were less than ideal on Saturday as winds gusted up to 30 miles per hour at the English Turn Golf and Country Club, a par-72, 6,186-yard venue in New Orleans, La. The average individual score for round two was 80.75.

No. 2 Auburn and No. 20 LSU are tied for first at 601, holding a two-shot lead over the 23-team field. Individually, Auburn's Cydney Clanton and LSU's Megan McChrystal share the lead with even-par 144s.

Purdue junior Thea Hoffmeister turned in Purdue's best score of the round, firing a 78 to move into a tie for 16th with a two-round score of 152. She is tied with five players for that spot, including teammate Laura Gonzalez Escallon. Escallon opened with an even-par 72 on Friday but carded an 80 today for her 152.

Numa Gulyanamitta has recorded an 80 on each day and with a score of 160 is tied for 65th. Sophomore Kisha Sinha struggled in the windy conditions, firing an 89 to drop to a tie for 103rd with a two-round total of 166.

Maude-Aimee LeBlanc was disqualified in today's round, but is expected to compete for the Boilermakers in the final round.

Freshman Paula Reto is playing as an individual and is tied for 27th after scoring a 79 today for a total of 154.

The Tiger/Wave Classic is co-hosted by LSU and Tulane and will conclude on Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start. Live scoring can be found at golfstat.com and final results will be posted to purduesports.com.
