Purdue Sinks To Sixth

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue finished day one with a two-round cumulative score of 584 (+8) at the Boilermaker Invitational. The score places the Boilermakers in a tie for sixth place.

The tournament, which Purdue is hosting, is being played at the Kampen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. The course is a par-72, 7,162-yard venue and will be extended to 7,465 yards for tomorrow's final round. Kampen played host to last year's Men's NCAA Championships.

Tyler Duncan led the Boilermakers with a score of 143 (-1). Duncan, who is tied for 8th, shot a 68 (-4) in round one and a 75 (+3) in round two. William Sjaichudin, who is tied for 19th, used back to back 73s to be the second lowest boilermaker with a 146 (+2). Other scoring Boilermakers included Tom Oliver (148), Maximo Kopp (152), and David Gersztein (153).

Penn State who was tied with Purdue after round one, is currently leading the tournament with a cumulative score of 569 (-7). The Nittany Lions used a second round 281 (-7) to move up from third place. The Hoosiers of Indiana came into the tournament as the ninth ranked team in the nation but struggled into 11th place at the end of two rounds. Kevin Foley of Penn State leads the tournament with a score of 135 (-9). Foley used a tournament-low round of 66 (-3) in round two.

Tomorrow's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. Admission is free. Live scoring will not be available but check out purduesports.com for final results.
