AUSTIN, Texas - After entering the final round tied for first with the top-ranked team in the country, the 12th-ranked Purdue women's golf team shot a final round 294 (+6) to claim victory at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Sunday. Senior Maria Hernandez took home medalist honors for the second time in as many appearances at the BRLI, finishing with a 54-hole score of 210 (-6) and a three stroke lead over Arkansas' Lucy Nunn (213, -3).

The Boilermakers had four golfers land in the top 20, including two in the top five, leading to a three-round team score of 872 (+8) and a six-stroke victory over Arizona State, the top-ranked team in the latest Golfworld/NGCA coaches' poll. Purdue's score of 872 broke a 26-year-old record for the lowest 54-hole score in the tournament's history, topping Tulsa's score of 890 set in 1983.

Hernandez led the way for Purdue, putting together three sub-par rounds totaling a score of 210 (-6), the lowest individual score in the tournament's 36-year history. The two-time first team All-American never trailed in the event, firing an opening round 70 (-2), second round 69 (-3) and final round 71 (-1). This was Hernandez's 11th first place finish of her career and third on the season.

Sophomores Junthima Gulyanamitta and Thea Hoffmeister finished in a four-way tie for 17th, each shooting total scores of 223 (+7). Gulyanamitta used an eagle on the 459-yard par-five fifth hole to grab her third-best finish of the championship season, while Hoffmeister jumped 17 spots in the standings on Sunday, shooting a final round one-under par 71.

Senior Carolyn Mess carded a score of 81 (+9) for the second consecutive round giving her a share of 83rd place and a three-round total score of 247 (+31).

Playing as an individual, freshman Vaishavi Sinha finished in a tie for 75th (243, +27), shooting an opening round 80 (+8), second round 81 (+9) and final round 82 (+10).
