COLLEGE STATION, Tex. - Purdue sophomore Josh Hembrough took home eighth place in the men's 60-meter hurdles at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Texas A&M University in McFerrin Athletics Center on Saturday. Hembrough becomes the 44th NCAA All-American in Purdue track and field history with his performance.

Saturday's effort added Hembrough's name to a long list of Boilermaker All-Americans in the hurdles, including Purdue great Rod Woodson and 2006 national award winner Rickey Pinkney. He provided the second consecutive national scoring effort for the Purdue men as well as their second straight indoor season with an All-America honoree.

He crossed the line in 7.94 on Saturday, 0.13 seconds shy of his preliminary qualifying mark in yesterday's trials, and 0.17 off his season and career best. Bethune-Cookman's Ronnie Ash won the event with a facility record time of 7.63, edging out Omo Osaghae of Texas Tech by just 1/100th of a second. Hembrough was also joined on the podium by fellow Big Ten athlete and 2009 conference champion Andrew Riley of Illinois, who took sixth place with a time of 7.87.

The Boilermaker move outdoors for their next competition, heading to Tempe, Ariz., for the Arizona State Invitational on March 27 and 28. They'll return home on April 4, hosting the annual Mike Poehlein Invitational at Dave Rankin Track & Field.
