WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue finished day two with a cumulative score of 591 (+15) at the 2009 Puerto Rico Classic. The Boilers used a second day score of 299 after shooting a 292 on day one. Purdue's score places them in a tie for twelfth place along with Minnesota and Northwestern.
The tournament, which Purdue is hosting, is being played at the Rio Mar Country Club River Course in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. The River Course is a par-72, 6,902-yard venue. The tournament boasts a field of 15 teams, all of which are ranked inside Golfweek's top 70.
Georgia used a score of 270 (-18) to take the lead today. Their cumulative score of 553 (-23) puts them seven strokes ahead of second place Clemson (560) and 14 strokes ahead of third place N.C. State (567).
Erich Johnston led the Boilermakers on day two with a score of 73 (+1) after shooting a 76 (+4) on day one. Other scoring Boilers included William Sjaichudin (75), Boom Ratankul (74), and Tyler Duncan (77).
Dylan Fritelli of Texas leads the tournament with a cumulative score of 131 (-13). Fritelli has used thirteen birdies through the first two days. Hudson Swafford of Georgia is in second with a score of 137 (-7) and David May of Clemson is in third with a score of 138 (-6). William Sjaichudin has shot a score of 145 (+1) to lead the Boilermakers. His score places him in a tie for 25th.
